Aalyah Smith, is a Senior Biology Major and Chemistry Minor from Kingston, Jamaica and serves as the 2020-2021 Jamiacan School Liaison. It is her hope to become a pediatrician or a pediatric dentist because of her love for children. Aalyah got involved with MYTH because leaving home and being alone in a new country as well as other challenges that she faced really affected her mental health. However, she was unaware. She knew something was wrong, but didn't know for sure what it was or how to go about getting help. Eventually she figured it out, but had she been in an organization like MYTH, Smith believes that her struggle with mental health would have been a lot easier. As such, being a part of MYTH is an attempt to gain the necessary knowledge to help those around me to take care of their mental health and to eradicate the stigma of mental health, especially for males.
